FIELD NOTES / 003

A timestamp is one exact moment.

Unix timestamps count time since 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC. Seconds and milliseconds describe the same instant at different precision. The displayed clock time depends on the timezone you choose.

Good to know

How does automatic unit detection work?

It accepts 10-digit seconds or 13-digit milliseconds, ignoring a leading minus sign. Select a unit explicitly for shorter, longer, or otherwise ambiguous values.

What happens at a daylight saving transition?

A local time may be skipped or repeated. The default asks you to choose a valid time or an explicit earlier/later resolution.

Is my input uploaded?

No. Conversions run in your browser. Your input is not stored.
